After the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party's landslide victory in the 2019 general election yesterday, social media was full of jubilant messages from his supporters.

Amidst this, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap got a jolt when a Modi supporter wrote a vile, threatening post to his daughter on Instagram.

Kashyap got onto Twitter and complained about it to Modi as the person who sent the obscene message claimed to be Modi’s fan.

The director wrote, “Dear Narendra Modi sir. Congratulations on your victory and thank you for the message of inclusiveness. Sir, please also tell us how do we deal with these followers of yours who celebrate your victory by threatening my daughter with messages like this for me being your dissenter.”

Reacting to this, producer Ashoke Pandit claimed that the Twitter handle from which the abusive text was sent to Kashyap's daughter does not exist. “This Twitter handle seems to be photoshopped because it doesn’t exist. Seems to be created by an  urban Naxal to give an opportunity to somebody to abuse Modi when the entire world is happy,” he said.

Kashyap was incensed by the reply from Pandit, and reacted quite abrasively.

This did not go down well with the producer. Pandit then sent a screenshot of a private chat message, claiming that it had been sent by Kashyap. The message read, “It’s my daughter getting a threat and it’s not a Twitter handle, it’s an Instagram handle. I didn’t know that you were such a degraded human being to call it photoshopped. You are so embarrassing and an attention seeker. World-class insensitive asshole.”

It is not known yet if Kashyap has decided to act on Pandit's suggestion and filed a complaint with the police.
