During a recent interview, Salman made it clear that he is in no mood to forgive Priyanka for walking out of Bharat (2019) at the last moment.
Many would leave their husbands for Bharat: Salman Khan on Priyanka Chopra's walkout
Mumbai - 22 May 2019 12:30 IST
Actress Priyanka Chopra was earlier roped in for the Salman Khan-starrer Bharat (2019). But she left the film at the last moment because of her marriage to singer-actor Nick Jonas. Director Ali Abbas Zafar shared the news and showed respect and understanding towards Priyanka’s decision.
Yes Priyanka Chopra is no more part of @Bharat_TheFilm & and the reason is very very special , she told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her ... Team Bharat wishes @priyankachopra loads of love & happiness for life 😊😉😍— ali abbas zafar (@aliabbaszafar) July 27, 2018
However, during a recent interview, Khan made it clear that he still holds a grudge against Chopra for walking out of Bharat just before the shoot commenced.
During a chat with daily tabloid Mumbai Mirror, Salman was asked about his views on Chopra leaving the film, he said, “Thank you, Priyanka! I will always be thankful to her. Bharat was about to go on the floors and just five days before the shooting, Priyanka meets me and says that she wouldn't be able to work in the film. Now, if Priyanka hadn't left Bharat, how could we have brought Katrina [Kaif] on board?”
For the first time, Khan revealed that they were ready to adjust the dates for her. “She came to meet me one day and said she is going to get married and hence won't be able to work in the film. I had told Priyanka that we will adjust the dates for her. She said that she isn't sure how much time she needs for the preparation of her wedding,” he said.
The character the actress was offered in the film was that of the second woman in Salman’s life. The first one is played by actress Disha Patani. Katrina Kaif replaced Chopra in the film.
The 53-year-old actor also expressed surprise at Chopra not giving her views on the trailer of Bharat and not keeping in touch. “No, even after the release of the trailer, Priyanka didn’t call me. Now, if she had some genuine problem then it's alright. I believe, whatever happens, happens for the good,” he said.
But Khan’s biggest dig at Chopra came when he said, “While many would give anything for the film or maybe even leaving their husband, Priyanka left the film.”
We wonder if Chopra has anything to say over this. Bharat, which also stars Tabu, Jackie Shroff, Sonali Kulkarni and Sunil Grover, is due to be released on 5 June.
