Jaya Ahsan will play a serial killer in Arindam Sil’s first web-series Troilokyo. Based on the true story of Troilokyo, a notorious murderess of the 19th century, the web-series also features Tota Roy Chowdhury as Priyonath Mukhopadhyay, the investigating and arresting officer of the case, who also recorded the journey of Troilokyo in the first Bengali crime periodical in the form of a journal titled as Darogar Daptar No 78.

Ahsan made her entry to Bengali cinema with Sil’s directorial Aborto (2013), with Roy Chowdhury. Sil told The Telegraph, “She is one of the most intelligent actresses and an extremely pretty woman. Jaya was the natural choice.”

He said that the character of Trioilokyo has many shades. He added, “It’s great to have Jaya and Tota back together for my first web-series.”

Troilokyo is going to be a bilingual project in Bengali and Hindi. “We have already registered the story and the title. The subject is perfect for a web-series” said the director, who is known for his success in making films on the popular fictional detective, Byomkesh Bakshi.

The shooting for Troilokyo will begin before Durga Puja this year.
