The new trailer of Vasan Bala’s Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota has been released today. After making the rounds of film festivals all over the world, the film is set to be released on 21 March in India.
The new trailer is specially cut for the desi audience. The makers mock the film's festival run, revelling in the joy of getting a theatrical release at last and hence the new trailer.
Apart from a protagonist who feels no pain, Vasan Bala’s film also has a strong female protagonist in Radhika Madan.
The trailer is built on over-the-top action and dialogues characteristic of an action masala entertainer. There is a deliberate effort to explain to the desi audience why Surya (Abhimanyu Dassani) doesn’t feel any pain, but then there is no time for it as Dassani asks you to Google the meaning of ‘congenital insensitivity to pain’.
In the first trailer that was released in 2018, Surya explained his condition in simple terms — mard ko dard nahin hota, a real man doesn’t feel pain. If Popeye recharged his batteries by eating spinach, it is water that does the trick for Surya.
Compared to the first one, the new trailer is more vibrant, funny, action-packed, gripping and entertaining.
Gulshan Devaiah, who might have felt left out in the first trailer, gets more than his share of the pie in the new one. He plays a double role in the film — a limping karate expert and a cool villain.
Devaiah’s pink shades and crazy antics make you think this villain is quirky, but the baddie also has a gentle side to him. He orders his noisy gang members to keep it down as they are in a residential area. It may be recalled that Surya’s mission is to get rid of all muggers in the city.
Producer RSVP smugly reminds viewers that it has delivered the blockbuster Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), with an apt 'How’s the josh?’ insertion at the end.
Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota has all the qualities that you associate with an ideal family entertainer. Watch the new trailer below:
