PM Narendra Modi song 'Hindustani': Siddharth, Shashi's aggressive tone makes remake unbearable
Mumbai - 27 Mar 2019 12:52 IST
The makers of the upcoming film PM Narendra Modi, a biopic on India's prime minister Narendra Modi released a rehashed track 'Hindustani'. The song is an upgraded version of the 'Sabse Aage Honge Hindustani' song from Mukul S Anand's shelved film, Dus.
Penned by Sameer, 'Sabse Aage Honge Hindustani' was composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. It was sung by Shankar Mahadevan, Udit Narayan, Mahalaxmi Iyer and Dominique Cerejo. While the song was released, Dus never saw the light of day as director Anand passed away in 1997.
The new 'Hindustani' is penned by Sardaraa, and sung by Shankar's son Siddharth along with composer Shashi Suman. The remake has just one intro taken entirely from the original, and an Antara created by Sardaraa, which inspires little confidence.
The Dus track clicked for its vibrant music and powerful singing by Shankar and Udit. 'Hindustani' is sung aggresively, which can be off putting. Parry G is credited for rap lyrics, but there's no rap in this released version. Shashi - Khushi's music is also uninspiring.
Vivek Anand Oberoi’s melodramatic sloganeering at the beginning and the end hurts the ears.
We wonder what Sameer Anjaan and Javed Akhtar would have to say about 'Hindustani', especially after the recent controversy over credits.
PM Narendra Modi will be released on 5 April.
