Jubin Nautiyal is fast becoming the go-to singer to raise your spirits on a gloomy day. With 'Fakeera Ghar Aaja', Nautiyal brings a sense of happy homecoming as opposed to the usually sombre, sad takes that have involved the word 'Fakira' in Hindi songs. The popping composition by Sameer Uddin has a pleasant vocal base, and builds on it with simple synthesized orchestration.
The song revolves around the return of Vidyut Jammwal's character to the hometown jungles of what appears to be Kerala. The sight of Jammwal surrounded by people in saris and mundus might be a little off putting, but the focus remains on the actor's memories of friendship with the elephants. With cued intercuts between him playfighting with an adorable baby elephant, and painting the faces of the bigger jumbos, the visuals build around a happy theme.
Nautiyal's voice suits the westernised compositional style of the song. The singer has an impressive falsetto that suits the composition. The song builds on a trendy pop rhythm accompanied by a piano chord that soon joins the guitar rhythms and builds to a crescendo. The subtle changes in the accompaniment, with shifts to guitar rhythms and back to vocals, add to the diversity of the song.
Composed by Sameer Uddin, the song has lyrics by Anvita Dutt, which capture the sense of the joy in the return of the native.
Junglee is directed by Chuck Russell, and features Jammwal alongside Pooja Sawant, Atul Kulkarni, Akshay Oberoi and Makarand Deshpande among others. The film will be released on 29 March.
