Bharat (2019) became Salman Khan’s highest opener as it went on to earn Rs41.50 crore on its opening day on Wednesday, 5 June, which was the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday. With yesterday being a working day, the numbers, obviously, came down.
The Ali Abbas Zafar film made Rs30 crore yesterday, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. This means the film saw a 30% drop, which is normal after a film earns hugely on a holiday and the next day is a working day. Hence, it is safe to say that Bharat has held well on its second day in office.
The reviews and word-of-mouth for Bharat are mixed. But this does not seem to have affected the numbers, at least in the first two days. The film will have some challenge today as it is the second working day in a row.
With its opening numbers, Bharat has become the second highest opener in Hindi cinema. The first position is still retained by the Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Thugs Of Hindostan (2018) which opened at Rs48.27 crore on the festival of Diwali.
As per trade sources, Bharat has been made at a cost of Rs100 crore. Meanwhile, the Ajay Devgn-starrer De De Pyaar De (2019) had a good third week, earning Rs11.35 crore. Directed by Akiv Ali, the comedy has so far made Rs88.90 crore.
