That Kabir Singh (2019) will be by far the biggest solo hit of actor Shahid Kapoor was known in the first weekend itself when it earned a huge (for the actor) Rs70.75 crore. But after the first week, the film is set to become one of the bigger hits of 2019, if not the biggest.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Kabir Singh has earned a huge Rs133.25 crore in its first week, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

Also starring Kiara Advani in a pivotal role, the film has continued to earn big even in the weekdays. The numbers did show a slight drop yesterday as the film earned Rs13.25 crore nett as opposed to Rs15.75 crore nett on Wednesday. But it is still an impressive number.

Kabir Singh has also scored the second biggest non-holiday opening week for a Hindi movie after Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju (2018), which had made a mammoth Rs200.16 crore nett.

The Salman Khan-starrer Bharat, which was released on Eid 5 June, made Rs168 crore in its first week earlier this month, but that film had enjoyed an extended nine-day first week.

As per our trade sources, Kabir Singh was made on a budget of Rs60 crore. The film has earned more than double that number in the first week itself. How big a hit the film will become will be known in its second week starting today.
