Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani-starrer Kabir Singh (2019) has earned unprecedented numbers at the box office in the first weekend. After opening to a remarkable Rs20 crore on Friday, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga film had a further jump of Rs23 crore and Rs27.75 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
More importantly, the numbers earned by Kabir Singh yesterday are the highest Sunday score in 2019 by beating the previous record of Rs25.50 crore made by the Salman Khan-starrer Bharat. The third position goes to Indra Kumar’s Total Dhamaal with Rs24 crore.
The grand total for Kabir Singh currently stands at a super impressive Rs70.75 crore. The weekend numbers are way higher than any solo Shahid Kapoor film so far. This film is a remake of the hit Telugu film Arjun Reddy (2017) starring Vijay Deverakonda.
As per trade sources, the film is made at a budget around Rs60 crore. It is expected to finish much ahead of this number and, in fact, has already crossed it easily.
Meanwhile, director Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat made Rs3.50 crore on its third weekend. Starring Salman, Katrina Kaif and Sunil Grover, the film has so far made Rs195.74 crore.
