Kareena Kapoor Khan has been officially announced as the female lead of Aamir Khan's next film, Laal Singh Chaddha (2020), a remake of the Academy Award-winning Tom Hanks-starrer Forrest Gump (1994).

The actress, also starring in Angrezi Medium (2020) with Irrfan Khan, is currently shooting for the project in London, England. She reunites with Aamir Khan after seven years.

Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor first worked together on the blockbuster comedy 3 Idiots (2009), directed by Rajkumar Hirani, and were cast again for Reema Kagti's suspense thriller, Talaash (2012).

Laal Singh Chaddha, written by actor-writer Atul Kulkarni and to be directed by Advait Chandan, is an official adaptation of the American film. The romantic drama, about a simple-minded war veteran who experiences seminal moments in American history, won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Hanks.

The Hindi remake is Khan's only project after the debacle of the big-budget Thugs Of Hindostan (2018). Besides Angrezi Medium, Kareena Kapoor Khan will be seen in Good News (2019) and Karan Johar's historical drama, Takht (2020).

Laal Singh Chaddha, co-produced by Viacom18 Studios and Aamir Khan Productions, is due to be released on Christmas 2020.
