Shreya Ghoshal turns back the clock to pay tribute to singer Kishore Kumar and composer RD Burman with her recreation of the iconic 'Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna' for the upcoming Karanvir Bohra-Priya Bannerjee film of the same name.
The newly reprised song is sung by Ghoshal, and is a lilting melody. Composed by Raaj Aashoo, and re-arranged by Aditya Dev, the song retains the melody of the original, but replaces some of the lyrics with the verses of Shabbir Ahmed.
In a statement, Karanvir Bohra said, "I've always been a fan of Shreya's voice. Her voice stirs you up, it has soul and depth. I'm so glad that Shreya is singing our title track."
The actor also revealed, "This track holds a special meaning in Shreya's life as the song that she sang on stage for the first time was 'Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna'. That's the reason why she came on board and sang this song."
The original song was composed by RD Burman, and sung by Kishore Kumar, for the film Kudrat (1981). Kishore Kumar received a nomination for Best Male Playback Singer for the song. However, only Parveen Sultana won the Filmfare award for Best Female Playback Singer for her rendition of the song in the film.
The romance, directed by Lalit Mohan, is set to release on 28 June.
