Box office: Taapsee Pannu’s Game Over gets just Rs60 lakh nett on opening day, Khamoshi is washed out

This week’s new releases, Game Over (dubbed in Hindi) and Khamoshi, made no impact whatsoever at the box office on opening day yesterday.
Game Over, a Tamil-Telugu bilingual which has also been released in Hindi-dubbed version, had a low opening of Rs60 lakh nett while Khamoshi was a washout with just a measly Rs10 lakh nett in the kitty, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
Starring Tamannaah Bhatia and Prabhu Deva, Khamoshi was torn apart by reviewers. And given the film's lousy opening, it is certainly doomed.
However, Game Over, which stars Taapsee Pannu, has got superlative reviews and good word-of-mouth and so the film stands a good chance of getting its numbers up on the weekend.
These were not the only new Hindi films to be released yesterday. There were three more — Kissebaaz, Rescue and Khel Khallas. Given how Game Over and Khamoshi, with well-known cast members, struggled at the box office yesterday, it is no surprise that these other three films did not trouble the ticket clerks much.
The opening generated by Hollywood action film Men In Black: International, which was also released yesterday, was much higher than the sum of all five Hindi releases. Although its collection of Rs2.75 crore nett is not high, it is better than last week’s Hollywood release X-Men Dark Phoenix, which opened with Rs2 crore nett. X-Men was probably hurt by the presence of Bharat.
