Over the weekend, we learned that filmmaker Sanjay Gupta is returning to the gangster genre after six years. His last film in the genre was Shootout At Wadala (2013), which was the second film in the series after Shootout At Lokhandwala (2007)

The news is now out that the film will be a two hero project starring John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi. The makers have shared the news in an official statement.

This is John’s third film with Gupta after Zinda (2006) and Shootout At Wadala, where he played the role of real-life gangster Manya Surve. Hashmi is associating with the filmmaker for the first time. This will be the first time that John and Emraan are cast together.

Speaking about the casting, Gupta said in an official statement, “It's my third outing with John and I am super excited to work with Emraan. I have always wanted to work with him and I am back to my base of filmmaking; gangster dramas. And all I can say is it’s good to be home.”

The yet untitled film is set in the 1980s and 1990s. “The story, in a fictionalized manner, revolves around the key events that turned Bombay to Mumbai, including closing of mills, the murder of a key businessman, the nexus between politicians, cops, the underworld and the business fraternity,” said an official statement from the makers.

The film is produced by Gupta’s White Feather Films and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series.
