News has been floating around that filmmaker Karan Johar has roped in Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor for the Hindi remake of the Telugu film Dear Comrade (2019). But the writer-director, who recently bought the rights of the remake, has rubbished all reports.

Johar took to Twitter to send good wishes for Dear Comrade, which releases today, and clarified that nobody has been cast for the remake as yet without mentioning either Khatter or Kapoor.

He said, “All the best and big success to the team of Dear Comrade! Also a CLARIFICATION! No lead actors have been considered or approached for the film as yet! The planning for this lovely film is underway!”

Khatter and Kapoor starred in Johar’s production Dhadak (2018) last year. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the film was the official Hindi remake of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat (2016). Kapoor will next be seen in the horror comedy RoohiAfza which releases next year. She is cast opposite Rajkummar Rao and the film is directed by Hardik Mehta.

Director Bharat Kamma’s Dear Comrade stars Vijay Deverakonda, Rashmika Mandanna and Shruti Ramachandran in lead roles. The film sees Deverakonda play a student leader who falls in love with Mandanna’s character, Lily, a state-level cricketer.
