Sanal Kumar Sasidharan's Chola (Shadow Of Water) has been selected in the Orrizonti section of the 76th Venice International Film Festival. The festival, which begins on 28 August, will see 18 films compete in this section.

The director shared the news on his Twitter handle earlier in the day.

Chola is the second Indian film, after Gitanjali Rao's animated feature Bombay Rose, to head to Venice this year.

Sanal Kumar's film, S Durga (2018), had gone on to win the Hivos Tiger at the Rotterdam International Film Festival (2017).

The 76th Venice International Film Festival is set to begin on 28 August and will conclude on 7 September 2019.
