Filmmaker and producer Mahesh Manjrekar has announced the sequel to his hit De Dhakka (2008). Titled De Dhakka 2, the film will carry forward the original cast of Shivaji Satam, Makarand Anaspure, Siddharth Jadhav and Medha Manjrekar.

Mahesh also shared the first poster of the film. The first film took place in a village in Maharashtra. Going by the new poster, De Dhakka 2 will take place in faraway London.

De Dhakka was about a journey of the family in an auto rickshaw but this one shows them in a cab in London with two royal guards pushing it. To also see the queen of England walking towards the cab makes the poster even funnier.

In Marathi cinema, this is the second sequel in recent times to be taking place in London after Ye Re Ye Re Paisa 2. Incidentally, both films are produced by Ameya Khopkar Entertainment.

De Dhakka was directed by Sudesh Manjrekar and Atul Kale. The sequel, however, will be helmed by brothers Sudesh and Mahesh Manjrekar.

De Dhakka 2 will be released on 3 January 2020.
