Jagan Shakti’s Mission Mangal, with an all-star cast including Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha and Nithya Menen, will have a simultaneous Australian premiere at the upcoming Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) on Independence Day, 15 August.

The film tells the incredible story of a determined team of scientists from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) who came together to launch India’s first interplanetary mission, Mangalyaan, to Mars. The multi-starrer, loosely based on the real-life scientists who contributed to the Mars Orbiter mission, fits in nicely with the theme of this year’s festival, courage.

Mission Mangal’s Melbourne screening will be the first festival premiere for the film. The inspiring story, coming as India is ready for another space mission with Chandrayan 2 to the moon, is produced by Cape of Good Films, Hope Productions, and Fox Star Studios.

The film which also stars Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi and HG Dattatreya, is due to be released in India on 15 August, alongside Batla House (2019) starring John Abraham.

The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne will be held from 8 - 17 August.
