Alia Bhatt might lend more than her presence to her father, Mahesh Bhatt's upcoming sequel, Sadak 2. A sequel to the hit 1991 film, Sadak 2 will see Alia take on the microphone to record a song. The actress reportedly recorded a scratch version at a Juhu studio this week.
A source close to the film said, "While Jeet Gannguly's score is ready, the lyrics are still being worked upon. Jeet da wanted to understand Alia's pitch and voice modulation, so they decided to record the scratch. The lyrics will now be rewritten under the supervision of Mahesh Bhatt. It is a romantic number and comes at a crucial point in the film, so Bhatt sir is being meticulous about it. The final track will be recorded only after the unit returns from their Ooty schedule in August."
The actress has sung before for Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014), Highway (2014), Dear Zindagi (2016) and Udta Punjab (2016).
The sequel will mark the first time Mahesh Bhatt will direct both his daughters, Pooja Bhatt and Alia Bhatt, in the same film. The film also features Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Jisshu Sengupta in key roles.
In addition to Sadak 2, Alia will be seen alongside Nagarjuna, Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan in Brahmastra.
Sadak 2 is scheduled to be released on 10 July 2020.
