Hrithik Roshan is likely to step into Amitabh Bachchan's shoes yet again. The actor, who reprised the erstwhile superstar's iconic Agneepath (1990) in 2012, is reportedly in the running to play the role essayed by Bachchan in the remake of Satte Pe Satta (1982), itself based on MGM's musical hit Seven Brides For Seven Brothers (1954).

The remake is being helmed by Farah Khan and produced by Rohit Shetty. While there has been no official confirmation yet, reports suggest the Super 30 actor might be in the running for the role of Ravi, played by Amitabh Bachchan.

The Indian Express newspaper quoted a source close to the unit as saying, "Hrithik will play the lead role in Satte Pe Satta and everybody is looking forward to it."

The remake was announced in February this year, with Shetty and Farah Khan sharing an image with the announcement.

Other reports have speculated that Deepika Padukone might be roped in to play the role essayed by Hema Malini in the 1982 film. Padukone is currently working on Kabir Khan's '83 (2020) alongside husband Ranveer Singh. The actress also has Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak (2019) lined up for release.

If Padukone does sign up for the Satte Pe Satta remake, it will be the first time she is paired with Hrithik Roshan.

Hrithik is currently awaiting the release of his Super 30. Based on the life of mathematician and tutor Anand Kumar, the film is set to be released on 12 July.
