Having received accolades for his work as an actor, Boman Irani has finally taken the plunge into production. The actor launched his production house, Irani Movietone, with actor Amitabh Bachchan and director Alexander Dinelaris presiding as the guests of honour at the event. Irani also plans to turn director with the venture soon.

The actor launched the logo of his Irani Movietone with a teaser video on social media. The video captures a nostalgic love for the cinema, with a touch of Cinema Paradiso (1988).

Speaking at the launch, Bachchan said, "It is a great privilege to be here to be part of this most ambitious venture. I have always believed that the writer is one of the most...not one of the most, the most important role in a project. They conceive the story, the screenplay. They conceive the artists."

"It is a great moment today, Boman, that you have decided to recognise this very important aspect in filmmaking," Bachchan added.

Introducing Dinelaris to the audience, Irani reminisced how they had met outside New York University and Dinelaris had talked about writing Birdman (2014). The film, directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, went on to win four Academy Awards, including Best Original Screenplay.

While reminiscing about the meeting, Dinelaris described that it was Irani's idea for the film that truly got him interested. "When he told me about the idea for his film, I thought 'Oh god, now I HAVE to meet him. It was such a beautiful idea, which I am sure you will come to know in some time."

The writer-producer then went on to hold a masterclass in scriptwriting for gathered writers, and filmmaking students from various institutes.
