With a glimpse of Phoolan Devi's red headband, and wicked humour, the second trailer of Sonchiriya shows the diverse nature of the rebels' conflict.

"Where is the bride's room?" sneers a menacing looking Manoj Bajpayee's Man Singh as he silences an entire wedding with his entry in the second trailer of Abhishek Chaubey's Sonchiriya. Titled 'The Rebels of Sonchiriya' the trailer sheds light on the many characters involved in Chaubey's film.

Set in the era of the Emergency and in the notorious region of Chambal, the trailer focuses on the characters in Man Singh's gang. These include the sharp, Vakil Singh (Ranvir Shorey), who seems to be tasked with handling the money, Indumati (Bhumi Pednekar), and Lakhna (Sushant Singh Rajput). At the other end is Gujjar (Ashutosh Rana), the even more menacing cop on the hunt of these 'rebels'.

While the trailer does not reveal much, it captures the different hues and objectives in the dacoit clan. While Man Singh appears to be an almost psychopathic fighter who laughs at bullets, Lakhna is at odds with his own gang. The moment of Lakhna firing bullets, while a red headband wearing woman cowers behind a wall is the standout.

The red headband was one of the iconic trademarks of the late Phoolan Devi. Phoolan Devi joined Man Singh's dacoit group in order to wreak vengeance on the men who killed her lover, Vikram Mallah. The look is also reminiscent of Seema Biswas's appearance in Bandit Queen (1994).

The other standout moment is the sight of Lakhna being questioned by his gang members about his whereabouts, and later by another rifle bearing villager with 'Are you a cop or a rebel?'. This perhaps implies the character's doubts over being a dacoit, and might see Rajput turn in the rest of the gang to the cops.

The film is directed by Abhishek Chaubey, and produced by RSVP Motion Pictures and Macguffin Pictures.
