I consider myself really fortunate that my name hasn't come out, says Shatrughan Sinha on #MeToo

Speaking at the launch of Dhruv Somani's book, Touch of Evil, actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha admitted that he is lucky that his name has not cropped up in the #MeToo allegations. The actor said, "I consider myself lucky that despite everything I did, my name has not come up in the #MeToo controversy." 

As the chief guest of the event, Sinha began the conversation referring to Somani's statement that behind every successful man there is a woman. Adding to that, the actor said, "It will not be wrong to say, in the era of #MeToo, behind the fall of every successful man is also a woman." 

Sinha went on to say, "I really call myself fortunate that in today’s times, despite everything that I have done, my name hasn’t come out in the #MeToo movement. Hence, I listen to my wife and often take her as a shield with me."

The event also had Sinha's wife, Poonam, in attendance. 

The actor, during the Q&A session later, was asked if he was making fun of the #MeToo movement. Sinha denied it and put it down to his 'plain' sense of humour. 

He said, "Don’t take it wrongly. Please take it with a plain sense of humour. I highly appreciate, applaud the women who, better late than never, have come forward. I salute their courage and guts."  

The actor added that he was pleased and happy to be launching Somani's book, A Touch of Evil.
