The title of Kashyap's next film, featuring Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu, is reportedly registered with Pritish Nandy Communications.
Whose title is it anyway? It's Anurag Kashyap vs Pritish Nandy for 'Womaniya'

Director Anurag Kashyap and producer Pritish Nandy are reoprtedly fighting over the rights to the title 'Womaniya. Kashyap's next film on the octagenarian shooter sisters, Chandro and Prakashi Tomar, was set to be named after the popular song from Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). However, Pritish Nandy Communications have already registered the film title, causing some problems for Kashyap.
Speaking to daily tabloid Mumbai Mirror, Kashyap said, "We have been politely requesting Nandy for the title and have even consulted lawyers on the matter," before adding, "It is strange that I have to fight for a word that I coined and brought into usage."
The Bhumi Pednekar-Taapsee Pannu-starrer is set to go on the floors on 10 February. The producers, however, need to register the title in order to get a 'censor' certificate.
Earlier in the week, Kashyap had refused to confirm that the title for the film is indeed 'Womaniya'. Perhaps, the unavailability of the title was a reason for it.
The Mumbai Mirror report also quoted Nandy saying, "The title Womaniya is owned by Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd. PNC has registered the title with IMPPA (Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association)."
The report also stated that Nandy had 'written several times' to Kashyap asking him to refrain from using the title.
