Notwithstanding the high hopes around Bharat, which will be released on Ramadan Eid this year, Salman Khan is set to return to his partnership with Sooraj R Barjatya.
In a recent quote to a newspaper, the director admitted having spoken to Khan about teaming up again for a 'family' film next year.
Speaking to the tabloid Mid-Day, Barjatya said, "I have discussed the primary idea with Salman. It's going to be a family drama, not an action film. All I can say is that it will have all the necessary ingredients that a Rajshri production has — emotions, drama and a lot of music. It is going to be my most satisfying film."
Last year was a poor one at the box office for Hindi cinema's superstar trinity of Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. With the poor performance of Tubelight (2017) and Race 3 (2018), Salman Khan may be ready to return to the tried and tested Barjatya.
Khan's last film under the Barjatya banner, Rajshri Productions, was Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015). The film went on to earn more than Rs200 crore in its lifetime run in India.
There have been stories about Barjatya working with Salman Khan since 2017, but there had been no confirmation until now.
Sooraj Barjatya added that he had not begun writing the script for the film. The filmmaker is set to begin work on the script in March, and is likely to start shooting early next year.
"Whenever I am ready, Salman has assured me that he will be ready too," Barjatya added.
Sooraj Barjatya is also working towards his son Avnish's directorial debut. The film the younger Barjatya will direct is reportedly being scripted by the father himself.
Sooraj Barjatya is also awaiting the release of his production, Hum Chaar, on 15 February.
