Filmmaker Srijit Mukherji gets hitched to Rafiath Rashid Mithila

The wedding took place at a simple ceremony at Mukherji's residence in South Kolkata. The couple completed the ceremony through registry instead of a grand social event.

Filmmaker Srijit Mukherji finally got hitched with Bangladeshi actress and model Rafiath Rashid Mithila at a simple ceremony at his residence in South Kolkata on Friday 6 December.

The couple completed the ceremony through registry instead of going for a grand social marriage.

Mukherji and Mithila were rumoured to be going together for a while now. On 6 December, Mukherji announced his partnership on Twitter with a photo of them standing facing a river, with a song penned by Kabir Suman.

Later, in the evening, he posted another with the caption, Shoi, meaning partner, announcing their registry marriage. He celebrated the evening with a few close friends from the industry, including Rudranil Ghosh, Anupam Roy, Srijato and Jisshu Sengupta.

Mithila is currently head of the Early Childhood Development Programme at BRAC International in Bangladesh. She got married to Bangladeshi musician Tahsan Rahman Khan in 2006 and divorced him two years ago. She has a daughter from her previous marriage.

Mithila is mostly known for her works on television. In 2016, she received the chancellor’s gold medal for her academic performance in her master’s degree in BRAC University.

Ever since the national award-winning director announced his wedding, Twitter is flooded with wishes for the newlyweds from well-wishers in both countries. The couple will soon be hosting a party for friends in the industry.
