Veteran actress Padmini Kolhapure was seen in a Hindi film after quite some time in the recently released Panipat (2019). She is now all set to star in a leading role in a Marathi film after more than 10 years with Prawaas (2020. The last time she played the lead in a film of this language was in Manthan: Ek Amrut Pyala (2006).
Interestingly, the film will see her paired opposite one of the Marathi cinema’s greats, Ashok Saraf. The two play an older married couple in the film.
The teaser of the film, which was recently released, doesn’t reveal the story of the film whatsoever. But it has enough in it to make you eager to watch the film. It shows that Prawaas is a journey of Saraf and Kolhapure’s characters who venture out on a trip to a snow-filled region on their scooter.
The two are seen having a memorable time in the snow-peaked mountains without a care in the world. These visuals coupled with the soulful title song in Shreya Ghoshal’s voice is enough to move you. The film sees composer duo Salim-Sulaiman’s entry into Marathi films.
Prawaas is Shashank Udapurkar’s first Marathi film as a director. Before this, he directed the Hindi film Anna (2016), the biopic on social activist Anna Hazare. Udapurkar also played Hazare in the film.
The film will be released on 31 January. Watch the teaser and let us know if you would be watching the film.
