Sab Kushal Mangal trailer: Akshaye Khanna plays the hurdle in this young romance

Directed by Karan Vishwanath Kashyap, the film is set for release on 3 January 2020.

While he has always played serious characters more memorably, Akshaye Khanna is returning to comedy after a long gap with Sab Kushal Mangal.

The trailer for Karan Kashyap's film sees the actor share space with Priyaank Sharma, son of yesteryear star Padmini Kolhapure, and Riva Kishan, daughter of one-time Bhojpuri superstar Ravi Kishan.

The trio play the three individuals caught in a love triangle, which leads to a comedy of errors. The story about a young couple in North India plays out in stereotypical fashion. While Mandira (Riva Kishan) is brash, fearless and adventurous, Vishnu (Sharma) is an upcoming 'journalist' who thrives on sensationalism.

Inevitably, they fall in love, with one problem. The arrival of Baba Bhandari (Khanna) changes the game. With Bhandari also falling for Mandira, Vishnu has to raise his game to save his love.

The trailer offers hints of comedy, but falters when it tries too hard. The debutant couple, Riva and Sharma, look raw and can't seem to pull off the comic timing. Khanna, meanwhile, seems to be enjoying himself in this over-the-top role as the lecherous Bhandari. The trouble is that Bhandari's terrible hairdo is more hilarious than his comedy.

The film is directed by Karan Kashyap and also features Satish Kaushik and Supriya Pathak in supporting roles. Watch the trailer below and let us know how keen you are to watch this film, probably the first release of the new year.
