Salman Khan's Dabangg 3 (2019) managed to collect approximately Rs114 crore nett in its first week at the box office. According to figures from BoxOfficeIndia.com, the film endured a weak trend throughout the week but still managed to get past the Rs100 crore mark by the end of seven days.
The film had opened with Rs22.50 crore nett, which was below par considering the presence of Salman Khan and the popularity of the franchise. However, the low return was also anticipated because of the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizenship across the country.
However, the film's collections remained weak through the week. It earned Rs9.25 crore nett on Monday and Tuesday, saw a boost on Wednesday, 25 December, on account of the Christmas holiday, when it collected Rs15.50 crore nett, and then fell again on Thursday to Rs6.75 crore nett.
This takes the first week total for the Prabhu Deva film to Rs113.75 crore nett.
On the other hand, Gopi Puthran's thriller Mardaani 2 (2019) enjoyed a decent second week where it notched up Rs12 crore nett. The film's collections now stand at Rs40 crore nett after two weeks. Despite the slowdown and the release of Dabangg 3, the film made good gains over the holiday period, reporting good collections particularly in West Bengal and Mumbai.
