Aparshakti deserves to be a lead actor, says brother Ayushmann Khurrana

For the third year in a row, actor Ayushmann Khurrana has proved himself at the box office. This year, Khurrana was part of three successful films — the drama Article 15 and the comedies Dream Girl and Bala.

Like Ayushmann, younger brother Aparshakti Khurana is having a stellar year. He was praised for his performances in Luka Chuppi, Jabariya Jodi and Pati Patni Aur Woh in 2019.

At a recent event, News18 India Chaupal, Ayushmann said of Aparshakti's rise, "It is very difficult to become a character actor and engage people. Aparshakti has done an amazing job in his recent films and I think he deserves to be a lead actor."

He went on to say that they are different personalities in real life as well. He said Aparshakti is an extrovert and better at promoting himself. "I take time to open up to people. Aparshakti has more friends that I have," he said.

Ayushmann was also asked that with many commercially and critically successful films under his belt, are there certain films that he now considers his own.

"My first film Vicky Donor (2012) had set a benchmark," he answered. "It’s almost like a case study where we spoke about such a taboo subject in such an open manner and it was accepted by people. After that none of my films worked.

"But then Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015) performed really well and I think the trend started from there regarding films which have a particular story and revolve around a social subject.

"I am very approachable as an actor. I don’t have a bias. I believe an established director’s film can also flop and a new director can deliver a hit. I am open to new ideas and new people. Anyone can have a great idea."
