As filmmakers search for novel locations to bring more realism to their stories, Goutam Ghose has turned to Jharkhand in his upcoming film, Raahgir. Featuring Adil Hussain, Tillotama Shome, and Neeraj Kabi, the film is currently making its tour of cinema festivals around the world. Producer Amit Agarwal, of Adarsh Telemedia, believes that the film will hopefully help improve the tourism in the state of Jharkhand.
Producer Amit Agarwal, under his banner Adarsh Telemedia, has backed films like MS Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016) and Simran (2017) is now ready with his latest production, Raahgir, directed by Ghose.
The film revolves around the story of three wanderers who stumble into each other on their journey. The film, in addition to talking about the locales of Jharkhand, also speaks about the tribal face of the state… their culture and tradition, folk music, rituals, and beliefs. The ‘natua dance’ form which is the core cultural identity of Jharkhand is an integral part of the film and is a showcase of Indian tribal culture for the film’s global audience.
Speaking about the experience of the shoot, Agarwal said, "The locations where we shot are absolutely new for audiences. The whole team was more than mesmerised with the raw beauty of the surroundings."
The producer also hoped that the film will help in bringing more attention to the region. He said, "I am sure more people would want to visit the state after seeing the film. I am really hoping that it becomes the new tourist destination in India."
Ghose is a national award-winning filmmaker who has largely made films in Bengali. His Hindi films include Paar (1984), Patang (1993), Gudia (1997) and Yatra (2007). Raahgir is his fifth Hindi film.
