The project will reunite Akshay and Pandey after Baby (2015).

Filmmaker Neeraj Pandey last directed Akshay Kumar in the espionage thriller Baby (2015). As per a report in the tabloid Mumbai Mirror, the two are all set to join hands once again for an ambitious film inspired from the life of Indian national security advisor Ajit Doval.
The report also mentions that the script for the project is yet to be locked. “Neeraj will first make Chanakya with Ajay Devgn, which was announced a few months ago. Akshay also has to complete prior commitments. The team wants to lock the script before making an official announcement,” says a source quoted by the publication.
It was under Doval’s supervision that the surgical strike of 2016 and the Balakot airstrike of 2019 took place.
Interestingly, veteran actor Paresh Rawal played a character based on Doval in director Aditya Dhar’s Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), which starred Vicky Kaushal in the lead.
This project also marks the end of the talks about the rift between Akshay and Pandey, which was rumoured to have gained momentum after the latter signed Sidharth Malhotra for his last film as director, Aiyaary (2018).
The last project which Akshay and Pandey had announced titled Crack was shelved even after its first poster was released. The film was announced soon after the release of Akshay-starrer Rustom (2016), which Pandey had produced.
