Prabhas’s big-budget film, Saaho (2019), hit the cinemas today. But the film faced some hurdles in a few locations in the north and east of India. As per sources in the distribution channel, the morning shows of Saaho didn't start because of late delivery of prints.

We got in touch with a theatre manager in Kolkata who confirmed the news and shared his ordeal by requesting anonymity. “Yes, there have been issues with the delivery of the content. The content is generally delivered by some of their men a day before. But this time we had to go to the airport [on the day of the release] at 4 am to bring the content which came from Chennai at 4:30 am. I reached the theatre at 5:45 am [with the content],” he said.

Explaining the process, he added, “We can’t show the film as soon as the content is delivered. We have to load it and it takes as much time as the film’s duration. The film finished loading at 8:15 am and we somehow managed to start our first show at 8:45 am. If they themselves would had delivered it to the theatres, it might have gotten later.”

Despite his first show starting on time, he did face some issues. “The problem we had was that we had to close the advance and online booking. We did that because in case the print isn’t delivered on time, customers might get angry if the show gets cancelled,” he said, and added that morning shows in some other theatres in the city couldn’t start because of the delay in prints.

The theatre manager said that this generally doesn’t happen. “Normally we get content by Thursday. There are times when we get it by morning itself,” he added.

When asked the reason for the delay from the makers, he said, “I tried to find the reason, but I didn’t get to know.”

Saaho, also starring Shraddha Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Chunky Pandey, is directed by Sujeeth.
