The Punjab-set comedy, Khandaani Shafakhana (2019), directed by Shilpi Dasgupta, has had a dismal first day as it has collected Rs75 lakhs on its first day, according to the numbers shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. The film, starring Sonakshi Sinha, has not connected with audiences and weekend hopes at the box office seem dim.

Hollywood continued its strong run at the Indian box office, despite the monsoons. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019), starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, earned Rs11 crore on opening day. The franchise has done well in the past in India and it should capitalize on that going into the weekend and its first week.

The other Hollywood biggie, Disney’s The Lion King (2019) made Rs1.75 on its third Friday taking its total to Rs126 crore.

For the other Hindi release, Super 30 (2019), starring Hrithik Roshan, held steady with Rs1 crore on its fourth Friday. The film, which was declared tax-free in several states, has now made Rs132 in its domestic run.

Last week’s release, Judgementall Hai Kya (2019), with stars Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao, earned only Rs80 lakhs on its second Friday. Its total collections stand Rs28 crore.
