Box office: Mission Mangal, Batla House continue to grow on Janmashtami holiday

The holiday of Janmashtami translated into some good business for the two Independence Day releases, Mission Mangal (2019) and Batla House (2019). For Jagan Shakti's multi-starrer Mission Mangal, the collection went up 25%, according to numbers shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. The film made Rs7.50 crore nett on its second Friday.
Mission Mangal's total collection at the domestic box office now stands at Rs132.50 crore nett and there are signs that the film, starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu and Sonakshi Sinha, could hit Rs150 crore nett over the weekend.
Mission Mangal, based on the Mars orbiter mission of the Indian Space Research Organization, thus looks primed to enter the list of top five hits of the year after Kabir Singh (2019), Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019) and Bharat (2019).
Meanwhile, Nikkhil Advani's Batla House (2019), starring John Abraham, also saw its collection rise from Thursday. It earned Rs3.75 crore nett on its second Friday and reports suggest that the film could see a little more growth over the weekend.
The film's nine-day collection now stands at Rs63.25 crore nett and it looks likely to cross the lifetime number of Satyameva Jayate (2018), which is currently John Abraham's highest grosser as a solo star.
