While the day might not have pleasant memories for him, Amitabh Bachchan continues to remember the day with fond memories. The actor shared a tweet reminiscing about the day he experienced the near fatal accident on the sets of Manmohan Desai's Coolie in 1983. The actor recovered and came home on 2 August, 37 years ago.

The actor shared a tweet saying, "Many are they that remember this day with love and respect and with prayer .. I can only say I am blessed to have such gracious thoughts with me .. it is this love that carries me on each day .. it is a debt that I shall never be able to repay."

The accident occurred with Puneet Issar, playing the villainous henchman in the film, punched Bachchan in the gut. Bachchan misjudged his jump and landed painfully on the table behind. The actor was immediately rushed to the hospital and underwent multiple surgeries. In his blog some years back, the actor had revealed that he had slipped into coma, and had been declared 'clinically dead' for some moments before being revived.

The accident had caused a nation wide grieving among fans, who offered prayers in temples, churches and mosques for the actor.

The actor recovered and was brought back home on 2 August 1982. The actor has since often reminisced on the day as his 'rebirth'.

In 2017, Abhishek Bachchan had shared a picture of himself with the actor at the hospital while he was recovering.

#throwbackthursday taken in the mid 80's ( 1985 if memory serves). I call it Big B and the Bachchan bunch. Dad was hospitalised with Mysthenia Gravis and my sister, cousins and I had gone to visit him. Being too young to understand what all was going on our parents always made it out to be like an outing so that we would not be disturbed by the hospital and its workings. When I used to visit my father after his accident on the sets of "Coolie" in 1982, seeing him connected to many drips and machines, he used to tell me they were kites that he had got for me. I was 6 yrs old. My father was fighting for his life and all I thought about was... why isn't he allowing me to play with these kites??? The innocence of childhood I guess.
