The Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan-led Mission Mangal (2019) continued to maintain a strong lead at the box office on its second day. The film managed a decent turnover of Rs17 crore on Friday according to figures from BoxOfficeIndia.com.
In contrast, the John Abraham-led Batla House (2019) dropped 50% to its opening day collections, managing only Rs7.50 crore on its second day.
After opening on the Independence day holiday with Rs28.50 crore, Mission Mangal added another Rs17 crore to its collection. This is an impressive total since the second day's collection exceeds Akshay Kumar's last Independence day release, Gold (2018). Gold had managed almost Rs8 crore on its second day.
The Jagan Shakti film has shown impressive collections across the major metros of Mumbai, Delhi, NCR regions, and might see an improvement over the weekend holidays.
In contrast, Nikkhil Advani's Batla House dropped its collection by almost 50% to Rs7.50 crore. Despite the drop, the film is still at a decent position, and might depend on its collections on the weekend. The total collection post the two day opening is below John Abraham's last big hit with Advani as producer, Satyameva Jayate (2018).
Batla House collections now stand at Rs22 crore after its two day opening. The weekend will determine the film's continued success.
