Laal Kaptaan teaser: Saif Ali Khan waits for his Raavan and Dussehra

It has become a new trend to release the first look or a teaser of a star’s upcoming film on his or her birthday. Sanjay Dutt did that recently by releasing the teaser of his upcoming film Prasthanam on his 60th birthday on 29 July. 

Now, it’s the turn of Saif Ali Khan to do the same. As the actor turns 49 today, the first look teaser of his upcoming film Laal Kaptaan (2019) is just released. It features a close-up shot of the actor who is seen wearing a turban with a dagger while sporting dreadlocks and a beard. He smears ashes on his face and his voice in the background says, ‘Har Ram ka apna Raavan. Har Ram ka apna Dussehra [Every Ram has a Raavan. Every Ram has a Dussehra].’

Khan appears intense and powerful in the footage which is just few seconds long. It is enough to impress you and make you eager to watch the film. The teaser also gives a feeling that we might get to see Khan at his best, reminding us of his Langda Tyagi act in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Omkara (2006). 

Laal Kaptaan is directed by Navdeep Singh who has previously helmed Manorama Six Feet Under (2007) and NH10 (2015). The film is produced under Aanand L Rai’s banner Colour Yellow Productions. This is Rai's first association with Saif. 

The film also stars Zoya Hussain, who debuted in Mukkabaaz (2017), Deepak Dobriyal and Manav Vij. 

Laal Kaptaan will be releasing on 11 October during the week of Dussehra. The film was earlier scheduled to release on 6 September.
