Irrfan Khan's return to Mumbai, walking on his own two feet, spread a cheer among Hindi cinema fans yesterday.

Irrfan Khan was spotted walking out of Mumbai airport as he returned to the city after a long absence.

Khan had been undergoing treatment and rehabilitation after being diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour last year.

After arriving in the city, the actor put up a post on Twitter thanking people for the support they had offered during his difficult time.

The actor's post talks about 'vulnerability'. He wrote, 'Maybe somewhere in the pursuit of winning, we forget, how much it means to be loved. In our vulnerability, we are reminded.'

The actor was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour back in 2018 and moved to the United Kingdom to undergo treatment. While his treatment and recovery had been kept under wraps, Khan's return has offered fans some reassurance.

While the message is typically philosophical, it is Khan's mention of 'travelling back' that makes it more than a simple acknowledgement of support.

The actor is reportedly set to begin shooting for Hindi Medium 2 alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan. This will be his first project since the tumour was diagnosed last year. The actor had also skipped the promotions of Akarsh Khurana's Karwaan (2018) last year.

The news of Irrfan Khan's return was received with some enthusiasm by members of the film industry. Ayushmann Khurrana, Richa Chadha, Rekha Bhardwaj and Hansal Mehta were among the many who took to social media to welcome him back.
