It’s going to be an interesting year for actress Keerthy Suresh as she’s handpicking projects and not blindly signing the star-studded ones. Last seen playing a regular heroine opposite Vijay in AR Murugadoss’s Tamil political thriller Sarkar last year, Keerthy is all set to join hands with Nagesh Kukunoor for an untitled Telugu project.
The film, which will also star Aadi Pinisetty, Jagapathi Babu and Rahul Ramakrishna, will mark Kukunoor’s Telugu debut. Tipped to be a sports romantic-comedy, Devi Sri Prasad has been roped in to compose music. The makers are yet to reveal rest of the cast and crew.
To be bankrolled by Sudheer Chandra, the film will be predominantly shot in Hyderabad and Pune. If everything goes as planned, the film will hit the screens this September.
This year, Keerthy will also commence work on her Hindi debut project. She has been paired opposite Ajay Devgn in a film that traces the life and time of Indian football player and coach, Syed Abdul Rahim.
To be directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma of Badhaai Ho (2018) fame and produced by Boney Kapoor, the biopic will also chronicle the Indian national football team’s glory from 1950 to 1963. While Devgn will essay Syed’s role, Keerthy will play his wife in the film.
On bagging the role and finally making inroads into the Hindi film industry, Keerthy told The Times Of India newspaper: “I am elated and honoured to be a part of such a great story. This is a film that will make every Indian proud. I believe this is a story that doesn’t belong to any specific region or language of India but is a great Indian story that the world should know.”
Meanwhile, there are also rumours that Keerthy might have signed Mani Ratnam’s next project, an adaptation of the epic Tamil novel Ponniyin Selvan.
