Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhat have been romantically linked since they began shooting for Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra and walked in for Sonam Kapoor's wedding together. Though Ranbir has hinted that the two are romatically involved, no public announcements have been made so far. However, the increasing cordiality between Bhatt and Ranbir's parents, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, and Ranbir's presence in Bhatt's Instagram account have helped quash the doubts.
Now, Ranbir's father, actor Rishi Kapoor, has stated that the Kapoor family likes Bhatt and that Ranbir has the right to chose his life partner. During an interview with Mumbai Mirror, a tabloid, Rishi was asked about his views on Bhatt. The firebrand actor shot back asking the interviewer to be straight. The reporter then directly asked Kapoor whether he approves of Ranbir and Bhatt’s relationship.
“The straight-off answer is: It’s Ranbir’s life. Who he wants to get married to is his prerogative. Neetu likes her, I like her, Ranbir likes her. Get it? I can’t be judgmental. After all, my uncles Shammiji and Shashiji and I chose our life partners. Ranbir is entitled to choose his," The Mulk (2018) actor replied.
While Rishi has left it upon his son, the Ranbir-Alia rumoured affair is gaining momentum as the duo are often spotted together at dinner dates. Bhatt has also spent time with Kapoor’s parents. Also, without giving any names, Ranbir has admitted that he is not single anymore. Kapoor last dated Bhatt’s good friend Katrina Kaif, while Bhatt was previously romantically linked with actor Sidharth Malhotra.
Ranbir and Bhatt are currently filming for Dharma Productions's Brahmastra. The film is set to be released on Independence Day (15 August) next year. Buzz also has it that the two are planning to tie the knot in 2020.
