Mumbai - 03 Sep 2018 14:55 IST
Director Amar Kaushik’s Stree opened with a decent Rs6.65 crore on Friday (31 August), as per number shared by Boxofficeindia.cm. The film, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, experienced a terrific jump during the weekend, earning Rs10.50 crore on Saturday (1 September) and Rs14.25 crore on Sunday (2 September).
The positive reviews and word-of-mouth seem to have worked wonders for the horror-comedy. Stree is made at an estimated budget of Rs25 crore and it has made a total of Rs31.40 crore so far. Hence, it has become a safe bet for the producers.
Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, the third film in the Yamla Pagla Deewana franchise, had a poor show in its first weekend. After opening to a poor number of Rs1.65 crore on Friday, the film, starring Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby Deol, made Rs1.80 crore on Saturday and Rs2.75 crore on Sunday.
The estimated budget of the film is Rs30 crore. Looks like the film is staring at a big defeat since its total collection currently stands at Rs6.20 crore. The second film in the franchise, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 (2013) had managed to make Rs6.36 crore on its first day itself even though it was a flop.
