The film, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Radhika Apte, Tabu, has suspense written all over it.
Andhadhun trailer: Sriram Raghavan's dark thriller is a symphony of mysteries

Filmmaker Sriram Raghavan brings yet another dark thriller Andhadhun after Ek Hasina Thi (2004) and Badlapur (2015). The gripping trailer of the upcoming film was released yesterday (2 September).
Andhadhun has Ayushmann Khurrana play a blind and gifted piano player. The first half of the trailer seems to suggest this could be the love story of a blind man with actress Radhika Apte playing the girlfriend.
One expects the characters to enter wedlock and live happily ever after. However, the crime-thriller, takes a surprising turn with the entry of Tabu. She plays a rich married woman. Her husband (Anil Dhawan) surprises her by employing Khurrana as her piano tutor.
This surprise though results in a murder in the house. Now, while a dead body is shown fallen on the ground floor of the building, it is not clear who it is. Is Dhawan’s character murdered?
The trailer shows a glimpse of a few artistes — Manav Vij, Ashwini Khalsekar, Zakir Hussain and Chhaya Kadam to name a few.
Like a man shooting blindly, the trailer has a series of scenes quickly disappearing into the next. It feels like Raghavan has swept his fingers through the piano. There is a key for each of the sub-plots — love, murder and suspense. The trailer leaves you shrouded in a symphony of mysteries.
The mystery is not restricted to murder though, as you can’t take even the protagonist on face value. A line that defines Khurrana’s character in the trailer reads - ‘Every artiste has a secret’. Despite his disability, the protagonist cannot escape the needle of suspicion. In the last scene of the trailer, he stuns Tabu by asking if the autorickshaw ahead of them has a poster of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on its back.
In Vishal Bhardwaj’s Maqbool (2003), Tabu played Nimmi who plots to murder her husband (Pankaj Kapoor) with the help of Irrfan Khan's protagonist. Does Andhadhun have a similar role for her? Only time will tell. The actress is charming as ever and does a good job as a seductress.
The one who surprises is yesteryear actor Anil Dhawan. He plays a rich man who tries too hard to woo his woman. One hopes Dhawan has a substantial role in the film for his character appears to be very amusing.
Looks like Raghavan has succeeded in presenting a gripping and intriguing trailer. Andhadhun is set to be released on 5 October, and will compete with Loveratri at the box office.
