Masaan (2015) director Neeraj Ghaywan has taken the place of Vikramaditya Motwane as co-director for the second season of Sacred Games. Motwane will stay on as creative producer of the show.

The first season was co-directed by Motwane and Anurag Kashyap. Digital streaming platform Netflix had recently released an audio teaser to announce that Sacred Games would return for a second season.

Though an official confirmation is awaited, sources closely associated with the show have revealed to us that Ghaywan is very much on board for season 2. “Yes, Neeraj Ghaywan will be directing the second season. Like Motwane, he will direct the parallel track of Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan),” said a source.

We had earlier reported tha Motwane wouldn't be directing season 2 of Sacred Games.

Ghaywan has assisted Kashyap on in Gang of Wasseypur (2012) and Ugly (2013). Ghaywan had shot to fame with the critically acclaimed Masaan (2015). A source who has collaborated with Ghaywan before, says, “I’m fully confident that Neeraj will do a great job.”
