The three Hindi releases of 14 September have turned out to be disasters at the box office. Anurag Kashayp's Manmarziyaan was the most hyped film, but it earned only Rs20.50 crore nett in its first week, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com.

Made at an estimated budget of Rs30 crore, Manmarziyaan was released across 1,500 screens in India. Apart from the unimpressive box office numbers, Manmarziyaan has been shrouded in a couple of controversies.

An Ambala-based Sikh group had raised an objection to a cigarette smoking scene in the film. Thereafter, Kashyap was upset with Twitter for deleting a tweet that disclosed the personal number of Eros International chairman Kishore Lulla, whose company distributed the film.

While Manmarziyaan disappointed, Jackky Bhagnani-starrer Mitron failed to even reach a business in double digits. Made at an estimated budget of Rs15 crore, Mitron was released across 800 screens. The film could only manage Rs3.50 crore nett in its first week.

Tabrez Noorani’s Love Sonia, which has received critical acclaim in the festival circuit, could barely make Rs2 crore nett in its first week. Perhaps, the film’s hard-hitting subject of human trafficking, kept the mass audiences away. Then again, this was a niche film.
