Rani Mukerji’s Hichki to be released in Taiwan as My Teacher With Hiccups


The drama, directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, stars the actress as a schoolteacher dealing with Tourette Syndrome.

After Russia, Kazakhstan, Hichki (2018), starring the Rani Mukerji, is set to be released in Taiwan on 2 November. The Taiwanese film will be known as My Teacher With Hiccups. The tagline on the poster also says, ‘Never limit yourself, don’t be afraid, even though you have some born disability’.

Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, Hichki featured Mukerji as Naina Mathur, a school teacher who has to deal with Tourette Syndrome, an involuntary nervous system disorder, as she navigates an unruly classroom of underprivileged children.

After it debuts in Taiwan, the film is due to be released in China on 12 October and in Hong Kong on 8 November. The film has also screened at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), where it got a standing ovation, and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) where Mukerji won the Best Actress award.

Hichki released in India on 23 March.
