Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor is currently in the US for medical reasons. On 29 September, he had tweeted about leaving for America for some medical treatment.
Hello all! I am taking a short leave of absence from work to go to America for some medical treatment. I urge my well wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate. It’s been 45 years “plus”of wear and tear at the movies. With your love and good wishes,I will be back soon!— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) September 29, 2018
However, the actor did not clarify on what illness he was suffering from or what treatment he was going for. This invariably led fans to worry about his health.
A report by entertainment portal BollywoodBubble.com stated that the actor was suffering from a third stage cancer. Rishi's older brother Randhir Kapoor has categorically rubbished the report, saying that diagnosis is yet to be done as his brother is yet to undergo complete medical tests.
Speaking to Economic Times, Randhir said, “We don’t know yet what is the exact nature of his ailment. Rishi himself doesn’t know what he is suffering from. He has not even started undergoing tests there, how can people speculate that he has cancer and that too, one that has escalated to an advanced stage? Let him undergo tests that he has to undergo. Depending on what the results, his line of treatment, medication and his modalities will be decided upon. It’s not fair to speculate things just like that.”
It's been a tough period for the Kapoor family. A couple days after Rishi left for America, his mother Krishna Raj Kapoor passed away. She was 87. Rishi has been accompanied by his son Ranbir and wife Neetu Singh.
