Abhishek Chaubey and Honey Trehan have decided to join hands as producers for the film, Hinterland. The film will feature Manoj Bajpayee and Gulshan Devaiah in the lead.

Hinterland is among the official selections of the 12th Film Bazaar Co-Production Market, and is likely to go on the floors next year.

Trehan is currently working on his directorial debut, Raat Akeli Hai, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte. Meanwhile Chaubey is working on the Sushant Singh Rajput-Bhumi Pednekar film, Sonchiriya

While the two will be on board as producers, the film will be directed by Rahil Patel, who previously worked as an assistant director with Chaubey on Dedh Ishqiya (2014).

Mumbai Mirror, a taboid, quoted Bajpayee as saying, "Hinterland is a completely untold story about a community that has not been given due justice. In the film I play a character who is torn between his love for his brother and his job, while also constantly struggling to survive. I have done a small but a significant role in Abhishek’s Sonchiriya besides being a big fan of his work. I have also known Honey for many years."

The same report quoted Trehan as saying the casting for the lead actress is currently underway.

The film is currently in the scripting stage, and will only go on the floors next year.

Devaiah was last seen in the Eros Now web-series, Smoke, while Bajpayee was last seen in Tabrez Noorani's Love Sonia.
