The actress and former beauty queen took to Instagram to share that she has been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer.

Actress Nafisa Ali, who was last seen in Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3 (2018), announced that she has been diagnosed with peritoneal and ovarian cancer. She shared a photograph of herself with Sonia Gandhi, the current chair of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), and wrote, "Just met my precious friend who wished me luck & to get well from my just diagnosed stage 3 cancer".
The actress, who is married to retired Col. RS Sodhi, also shared photographs of her children, daughters Armana and Pia, and son Ajit, and grandchildren. She wished Pia on her birthday and stated that her children were her reason to get better through her cancer struggle and overcome it. "It’s just going to take its own course with Peritoneal & Ovarian cancer," she wrote.
The former beauty queen and athlete, who won the Miss India title in 1976, made her film debut in the Shyam Benegal film, Junoon (1979), opposite Shashi Kapoor. She returned to films two decades later with films like Kshatriya (1993), Aatank (1996) and Major Saab (1998). She also acted in Life In A Metro (2007), Guzaarish (2010) and Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011).
The actress seemed to be in good spirits, surrounded by her family and friends, as she prepared to take on the disease.
In 2009, Nafisa Ali contested the Lok Sabha election as a member of the Samajwadi Party. However, that same year, she returned to the Congress Party.
