Chairman and managing director of T-Series, Bhushan Kumar, has sent a legal notice to producer Kamal Anand, who recently announced that he would be making a documentary on the late music mogul Gulshan Kumar, founder of T-Series.

An official statement issued by the music record label and production company read, “T-Series is not taking this announcement lightly and has decided to send out a legal notice to Kamal Anand to stop them from going ahead. Shri Gulshan Kumar's son and the present chairman and managing director of T-Series, Mr. Bhushan Kumar, has already announced the making of a biopic on his father titled Mogul.”

The film will be co-produced by Aamir Khan who might also take on the lead role of Gulshan Kumar himself.

According to T-Series, “Anand has neither taken due permission from them nor has he approached them. T-Series has categorically stated that Kamal Anand is not authorized by them to do so nor has he approached the company or its owners for their consent. Leading to this, the company has decided to take a legal route on the matter.”

Anand had announced the documentary in an official statement to the media, saying, “I had a long and close association with Gulshanji and am the witness of his sky-rise success. I thought of to share his success story with the world and am sure that his success story will inspire today’s youth. The duration of my film will be of an hour and it will show how he scaled the ladder of success when he came from Delhi to Mumbai to expand his music business.”

“How he named his music company T-Series, how he defeated the then giant music company HMV, how he transformed the music rights of film into paying territory for producers, how he promoted the new talents and how he persuaded Jimmy Narula to leave HMV and join T-Series and many other things including his business acumen will be shown in this film in an interesting way,” the statement informed.

Anand had also stated that he is in search of an actor who resembles Gulshan Kumar. “Currently, I am in search of a face resembling Gulshanji and once this is done the film will start rolling and it will be shot in Delhi and Mumbai and it will be directed by an award-winning director,” he added.
