Director Satish Rajwade's Mumbai Pune Mumbai 3, starring Swwapnil Joshi and Mukta Barve, was earlier scheduled to be released in April 2018. The makers, Everest Entertainment, have now announced that the film will hit the theatres on 28 September.
The first film in the franchise, Mumbai Pune Mumbai (2010), not only became a hit but also had a cult following. The romance drama narrated the story of a Mumbai-based girl and a Pune-based boy who, after a chance meeting, fall in love.
The sequel, Mumbai Pune Mumbai 2 (2015), centred around their marriage. The film clashed with Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) at the box office, but this did not deter it from being a success.
“While shooting for Mumbai Pune Mumbai, we did not expect that we will go for the sequel. But during the making of its second part we realized that there was a room for the third part of the film. It would not be appropriate to reveal any details about the upcoming film, but I can surely say that the third part will again prove to be equally successful,” Rajwade said in an official statement.
